Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs)

Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs)

India’s Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector serves as the backbone of the nation’s economy, contributing significantly to employment generation, exports, and overall economic resilience. Despite its critical role, the sector faces persistent challenges such as limited access to credit, regulatory hurdles, and capacity constraints. Policy Consensus Centre is committed to empowering MSMEs by driving policy reforms and advocating for a supportive ecosystem.

Policy Consensus Centre focuses on promoting the formalisation of MSMEs to enable better access to institutional credit and government incentives. By advocating for frameworks that facilitate credit growth, we aim to address one of the sector’s most pressing challenges. Technological adoption is another cornerstone of our efforts, as we work to integrate digital tools that expand market reach, promote exports, and drive competitiveness. Our research focuses on enhancing the ease of doing business for MSMEs, fostering innovation, skill development to enhance workforce capabilities and increase women’s participation, thereby fostering diversity and inclusivity in the sector. We actively engage with stakeholders to address structural bottlenecks and design solutions that facilitate the sector’s sustainable growth. By promoting skill development, digital transformation, and market linkages, we aim to unlock the potential of India’s MSMEs and position them as drivers of inclusive economic development. Policy Consensus Centre strives to simplify regulatory processes, making it easier for MSMEs to start, operate, and scale their businesses. Through our research, we aim to create an environment where MSMEs thrive as key contributors to India’s sustainable and inclusive growth story.
